Birthmark Support Group Relaunch Event

Saturday 11th October 2025
Essex Cricket Club, Ambassador Cruise Line Ground, Chelmsford, CM2 0PG

We are delighted to announce the relaunch of the Birthmark Support Group (BSG) – a new chapter for our charity with fresh trustees, ambassadors, and programmes of work to better support people and families affected by birthmarks.

This special event will bring together world-leading clinicians from Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), families with lived experience, and our growing community of supporters. With coverage from BBC Radio Essex, it promises to shine a spotlight on the importance of visible difference and the need for better awareness, understanding, and care.

Why This Matters

Birthmarks are often first noticed in primary care, but many GPs and practice teams report limited guidance and training. This can leave families feeling uncertain, unsupported, or misinformed at a crucial stage.

By working with GOSH, we are committed to changing this. Together, we are developing future CPD training for GPs across the UK – improving knowledge, confidence, and referral pathways so that patients receive timely, informed care.

Our ambassadors, who live with birthmarks themselves, will help shape this work by sharing the real challenges families face when seeking support.

What to Expect at the Relaunch

  • Expert presentations from GOSH specialists on early identification, management, and treatment of birthmarks.
  • Powerful stories from our new ambassadors, sharing lived experiences of navigating healthcare and everyday life.
  • Launch of new resources & programmes, designed to strengthen support, raise awareness, and connect families.

There will also be opportunities to network, ask questions, and learn how you can get involved in shaping the future of BSG.
