These are the most common type of birthmark and can often be referred to as salmon patch, angel’s kiss, or stork bite.
What Do They Look Like?
They are pinkish birthmarks that appear on your child’s forehead, eyelids, or the nape of the neck. They become more obvious when the child is crying or warm. The marks may fade when you apply a small amount of pressure.
Will They Disappear?
Birthmarks found on the forehead and eyelids usually fade significantly by the time the child is 2 years old.
Those on the nape of the neck and back of the head tend to be more stubborn, but they usually go unnoticed as they get covered by hair.
Do They Need Treatment?
Nevus flammeus birthmarks do not normally require any treatment. Most of them disappear within two years of birth, and if they don’t, they can be treated with laser treatment.
