Sometimes we fancy wearing makeup, sometimes we don’t and both are completely okay.

For those days when you do choose to wear foundation, what works well for you?

We’d love to hear your recommendations and tips in the comments. Everyone’s skin and birthmark is different, so what works for one person might not work for another, this is simply a space to share what you’ve found helpful. 💕

‘She has CMTC across most of her torso and limbs, and some leg length discrepancies as a result. Her markings have been mistaken for burns and dirt, but hasn’t let this affect her. She’s happy, confident and loves football! She plays with school and for her local team.’

Did you know? 💡🍓

Strawberry birthmarks, also called infantile hemangiomas, are made up of extra blood vessels in the skin.

They might not be there when a baby is born and can appear during the first few weeks. They can grow quite quickly during the first few months and often look bright red and raised, which is where the name “strawberry” birthmark comes from.

The interesting thing is that they usually start to shrink on their own as the child gets older. A lot of them fade significantly by school age, although some can leave a small mark or a slight change in the skin. 🍓💜

“Hi, I’m Becky! I’m 33, a wife, and a mum of two working in the social care sector.
I was born with a port wine stain birthmark covering roughly 80% of my body. Over the years, I’ve learned that it’s completely okay to feel ambivalent about it at times, some days I feel strong and confident, while on others, depending on the situation, I can feel a bit insecure.
I’m really excited to join the Birthmark Support Group as a volunteer! I’m looking forward to supporting our service offer and bringing both my personal perspective and professional experience to the forefront to help others living with birthmarks.’

What is a Port Wine Stain?

A port-wine stain birthmark is a type of vascular Sirthmark cansed by an abnormal development of blood vessels (capillaries) in the skin. It’s called a “
“port-wine
stain” because of its reddish-purple color, which can resemble red wine.

Meet Katie ( @kt.kwiecinski ) 💜✨ A 36 year old Mam from South Wales and Deputy Ward Manager in a Day Surgery Unit.

Katie was born with a Nevus birthmark on her chin, which has been part of her story since birth. She’s learning to embrace what makes her unique and hopes to inspire others to feel confident in their own skin. ✨

Starting school is a big adventure!

It’s normal to feel excited, nervous, or a little bit of both.
You’re going to meet new friends, learn new things and have lots of fun. Remember, you are special just the way you are.

If you have a birthmark, it’s simply one part of what makes you, you. Be proud, be yourself and know that you belong.
